  1. You will learn a lot by reading the award- winning book “The HPV Vaccine Controversy: Sex, Cancer, God and Politics authored by Shobha S. Krishnan, M.D, Barnard college, Columbia University. The book is written without the influence of any pharmaceutical company or special interest groups. It is available at amazon.com and Barnes and Noble .com. The book educates both professionals and the public about HPV infections, the diseases they cause and the role/ controversies surrounding the new vaccines. The book has been chosen by The American Journal of Nursing (AJN) as one of the most valuable book s of 2009 and is the recipient of The Book of The Year 2009 Award. The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA, June 17th 2009) calls the book superb and a terrific contribution to the field. Website: http://www.thehpvbook.com/

  2. I think the HPV vaccine is an excellent step forward. If you or not is really up to you. Here is the website of the manufacturer of the vaccine: http://www.gardasil.com/. Remember that the information is not the manufacturer, it can be a little biased. But I think it is worthwhile to observe. I am 26 years old and began receiving the vaccine, even though I am married (to my doctor recommended, and my insurance covers it). My mother had a cancer that is usually caused by HPV. While the cancer early, shook me enough to think seriously about the vaccination. According to the Centers for Disease Control, at least 50% of sexually active people get HPV at some point. It is a fairly high risk.
Here is a site I found that a good reputation it has some information about adverse reactions to Gardasil: http://cervical-cancer.emedtv.com/gardas looks like ...

    Good luck with your choice!
